We learned that the Eiffel Tower is in the country of France. Did you know that you can go all the way to the top of the tower and look out at the whole city? Aunty Carmen told us that she has been to France with her family, and she even brought in some of the pictures that she took while in Europe.
On Thursday, we read a book called "Flat Stanley" by Jeff Brown. It is about a boy who got flattened by a bulletin board! He was so flat that his parents were able to send him through the mail service to California to visit his friend. The students talked about where they would go if they were flat and could be mailed; they said places like France, Arizona, Disneyland and so much more. Later that day, Ms. Kuulei surprised the class by showing them what she got in the mail, a flat Stanley! It was sent to her from a little boy named Houston, who lives in Wyoming and wanted to learn more about Hawaii. Each student got to write Houston a letter telling him something cool about the place where we live.
As a reminder, every Tuesday and Wednesday students can come to school early, and before class starts they can go to the D Field and run laps to earn tickets. Every time a student runs a lap they get a blue ticket, and the class who collects the most tickets wins a healthy lunch party!
We could use prize incentives or man power or anything you think would help our kids stay motivated to rack up the miles. Our aim is to hit a million miles as a school before the end of the school year. If you are interested in helping in any way please contact Janice Blaber, Vice Principal (895-6671)
Finally, please don't forget Spirit Card monies are due March 7th. We are only accepting cash payments this year, so please no checks. Don't forget, the person who sells the most cards in the entire school gets either a free iPad or 2 Bruno Mars tickets. Have a great weekend everyone!
