Aloha P2 Ohana!
What a fun and exciting week this has been! To start off the week the kids learned all about Russia in Social Studies, the host country for the 22nd Winter Olympics. We got a special treat on Thursday when we discovered that we could live stream the Olympics in class! It just so happened that the men's figure skating was taking place that morning, and the kids were completely fascinated. They oohed and awed at every leap and spin!

We watched the men's figure skating while we worked on our "Olympic Rings" craft.
We learned that each ring represents a different part of the world that participates in the Olympics. The kids colored in the rings first and then had to rip up tiny pieces of paper to glue on top of the rings. This gave it a cool 3D look!

Thursday was a fun-filled day as we also celebrated Valentine's Day that afternoon. We all made Valentine's Day cards to give to someone we love. Once again the kids ripped up tiny pieces of paper to show a loved one that they love them to "pieces". :)

As you know we celebrated Valentine's Day a day early due to our field trip on Friday. We all had a great time at our field day. The kids got to play kickball and flag tag, run an obstacle course, do yoga and dancing, participate in a running and skipping relay, and finally the competed with hula hoops to see who could keep theirs up the longest. Congratulations to Emma, our hula hoop champion! We would also like to give a BIG MAHALO to Jeff and Alana for being our parent chaperones. We couldn't
have done it without you!
