This week we learned all about the letter S! We had some great items brought in from home that begin with S: pictures of seals, sharks, and snakes; real objects like soap, a straw, even a snail!
As a class we made a mind map about S. We drew the letter S in creative ways, drew pictures of things that begin with S, and wrote words that begin with S.
For Social Studies this week we read the school's Book of The Month called "14 Cows For America". It takes place in Kenya.
After we read the story we learned more about Kenya and recorded comparisons between Kenya and Kona. We looked at animals, kinds of food, and different games.
In Science we are learning all about the 5 senses. On Thursday kids drew and wrote about how they use their senses.
Next week we are learning all about the letter P! Kids are once again encouraged to bring in items from home that begin with P. We will also be continuing our unit of study in Social Studies about North America. We will be studying Canada and Mexico. If you have any pictures or artifacts from those countries your child is welcome to bring them to share with the class.
Have a fabulous weekend!
Mrs. Kawai
