An "Egg-citing" Week!

Aloha friends and families!

This week in P2 we concluded our unit on three-dimensional shapes. We learned the names of the different shapes, about flat and round surfaces, and the number of surfaces on each shape. We also learned about the shapes you can make when you trace a flat surface of a three-dimensional shape. The kids worked in groups of four to discover the shapes you get when tracing a cone, cylinder, rectangular prism, and a cube.

This week was Librarian Appreciation Week! The kids made thank you cards for our librarians Ms. Chock and Ms. Cassidy. Ms. Chock always reads great stories when we visit the library, and Ms. Cassidy is always there to help us check out our books.

All week the kids waited in anticipation for Friday, our science experiment day! Thank you parents for allowing your children to bring their plastic baggy to school filled with an item from home. We had such a diverse selection of materials! Some of the items that were brought were rice, water, socks, flour, and bread!

Before we began our egg drop experiment the kids made predictions on which materials would keep the egg from breaking and which ones wouldn't. Then we took it outside to see for ourselves!

Some of the results were quite surprising! To find out more about the results of our "Egg-speriment" be sure to attend our first annual school science fair! It is THIS Thursday, April 23rd from 3:30-5:30.

We would like to give a big MAHOLA to Mrs. Hopman for donating the eggs and helping us with this totally fun experiment! The kids had a BLAST!

Hope to see you all next Thursday at our science fair!

Mrs. Kawai
