This is a weekly blog to keep parents up to date on what is happening in our classroom at Kealakehe Elementary School. It highlights any special achievements, celebrations, or learning experiences.
This week we did art like Michaelangelo! After learning about how the famous artist painted the Sistene Chapel the kids explored what it was like to do artwork upside down. Everyone used
magnets to attach their paper to the underside of their desks. Then the drawing began!

This week for math we learned about sorting and classifying. We sorted by color, shapes, and size.
On Thursday we did a fun project using googly eyes. Everyone glued a pair of googly eyes to their paper and created a piece of artwork around them.
Thank you to everyone who has already signed and returned their child's permission slip for field day. There be a slip n slide, so please be sure that your child comes to school with clothes that can get wet and an extra pair of dry clothes. Field Day is Tuesday, May 24th.
On Wednesday we celebrate Star Wars Day. It was such a fun and exciting day!
During our reading time we read different Star Wars books and practiced reading and labeling with Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia!
During our math time we used pattern block shapes to recreate R2D2.
At the end of the day we celebrated with Star Wars cupcakes thanks to the Okuna family!
On Thursday we celebrated Boys' Day! Boys got to be first all day, and all the boys got to eat lunch together with Ms. Josie and I in the classroom. Everyone also made carp kites.
Our whole school end of year performance, Songfest, will be the last day of school. All the Kindergarteners will be dancing to the song "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". Kids will need to come to school dressed in their pajamas. We suggest lightweight/cool pajamas, as we will be outside all morning and it usually gets hot! Kids can get extra practice for the dance at home using the video link below.
